Exploring my grand parents house was always one of my favorite things to do when I was a kid. My grandma and grandpa were a bit of pack rates. They kept a lot of useless things, and it tended to make their house quite a bit crowded. As a kid however, it made it all the more exciting. I always eagerly anticipated finding something new that I would eventually ask them if I could have. I never found anything of incredible value, which was always disappointing, but there was always next time. The Lopez family of Florida however, they made one of the coolest (and creepiest) finds you could ever make in your grandparents house. What they found is really incredible, and it was actually something their grandfather had told them about for years. Check out the amazing discovery below.
While searching their late grandfather’s attic, the Lopez family made an awesome yet gruesome discovery.
Their grandfather had often told them the story of how his father had found the treasure of famous Spanish pirate Jose Gaspard. The children wrote it all off as just a cool story to tell, that is until searching the attic and found a strange box.
Inside they found this map of the Tampa area from the 1930’s, along with something else.
The box also contained a preserved hand, along with several 18th century Spanish and Portuguese coins.
They took the contents to several local antique stores, and the contents were deemed authentic.
Who keeps a human hand though!?
The Lopez’s aren’t really sure what to think of all of this. They aren’t even sure what to do with the box, although they have said they consider it a family heirloom at this point.
I’m not sure I would know how to react to something like this either. A severed and preserved hand is not what I would expect to find it my sweet grandma and grandpa’s attic. I would be extremely disturbed to be honest. Hopefully this is something that can be passed down through the family though, no matter how creepy it might be.
